Another face-off just after dust settled on Ladakh

Delhi : Days after the stand-off between India and China ended in Depsang Valley in Ladakh, another face-off took place in the region on May 17 when the Chinese intercepted and prevented an Indian Army patrol from going to its perceived line of area near Line of Actual Control (LAC). The incident took place on the northern side of Pnangtso Lake in Ladakh near Finger VIII area also known as Siri Jap. The Chinese claimed the Indian patrol was on Chinese territory whereas the Indians maintained that they were patrolling up to their perceived line. Moreover, the Chinese have built a road in this sector which reportedly is about 5 km inside LAC on the Indian side. China refuses to acknowledge LAC and maintains the road is on its territory. Playing down the incident, officials in New Delhi said on Sunday the Indian Army regularly patrolled this area including the road and perceived it as Indian territory. “ Such face-offs keep taking place,” he said.

UPA’s ‘success’ is just smoke and mirrors

By Gautam Mukherjee The bizarre display of strained bonhomie and brazen self- congratulation put up by the denizens at the apex of UPA II, namely the ‘triumvirate’, as Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid describes Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi, singularly fails to impress. That it reminds one of Caesar, Crassus, and Pompey, the original triumvirate that ruled Rome, all vying for the laurel wreath that eventually went to Julius, is no doubt a mirage of inappropriateness here. And this despite all the protestations of essential harmony between ‘Church’ and ‘state’ as it were. Because here, the Prime Minister is a seat-warming facilitator to all the fabulously rich Crassus’s. Nothing like having an ostensibly clean man at the helm that enables all the looters. Caesar today is actually Calpurnia, totally above suspicion, at least mention thereof, and Pompey is Hamlet, wondering if it is worth his while turning into Julius. Communist leader S

India should not have any dialogue with Pakistan on Kashmir : Dr. Subramanian Swamy

Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir) : Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday said India should not have any dialogue with Pakistan on Kashmir since it is an integral part of this country. Swamy, who is here for the National Council meeting of Janata Party here, said the only "unfinished agenda" on Kashmir is to get back the part of the state which is under the occupation of Pakistan. "Let me make it clear that dialogue with Pakistan cannot resolve Kashmir issue. There should be no talks with Pakistan on Kashmir," Swamy told reporters here. Swamy also said there was a need for a new approach for resolution of problems faced by people of Kashmir. Asked about his party's stand on Article 370 of the Constitution granting special status to Kashmir, Swamy said the provision has been violated by militants by driving away Kashmiri Pandits from the valley. In reply to a question, Swamy said the BJP-led NDA will come to power in the next Lok

British destroyed the science of navigation developed in India !

By Dr. Durgesh Samant [Guidance given by him at Tryambakeshwar Dist. Nashik, on 26.4.2007 during establishment of Swatantryaveer Savarkar Smruti Manch] Indian Science of Navigation Till 17th century, ships weighing upto 1500 tonnes known as ‘Godha’, used to be built in India. There was one ship named ‘Darya Daulat’ in East India Company which was built in India. For 87 years, that ship required no repairs. The British, however, could not stand the knowledge possessed by India in ship-building and imposed restrictions; slowly destroying the knowledge. All names and verbs used in science of navigation, were available in Indian languages. Not only this science; but all branches of science were developed in India and Indian words related to them, were only in use. Nowadays, however, no Indian word is used in any branch of science. There were Marathi words available for everything used in carpentry. Indian business and trade was spread till ‘Java-Sumatra i.e. today’s In
