Court orders criminal case against Sonia Gandhi

Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) : A local court has directed the Kushaiguda police to register a criminal case against Congress president Sonia Gandhi for allegedly cheating people of the Telangana region and "having dual citizenship" on different names. On January 29, BJP leader Satish Agarwal had filed a private petition in the II Metropolitan Magistrate's court of Malkajgiri alleging that Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, during her 2004 election campaign speech in Karimnagar, had duped the four crore people of Telangana by promising them a separate state if they vote for the party. The promise was also reiterated in the Congress' election manifesto. Five-year-old Nagpur rape victim dies of cardiac arrest

Nagpur (Maharashtra) : The five-year-old girl, who was brutally raped in Ghansaur town in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh recently, died of cardiac arrest on Monday evening. She had been brought from Madhya Pradesh to Nagpur for the treatment. “The five-year-old girl died of cardiac arrest at around 7.45pm,” the spokesman of Care Hospital in the Nagpur, where the girl was admitted, said. Her body was sent to the government medical college in the city for postmortem, he said. The girl was allegedly raped by a 35-year old Firoz Khan in Ghansaur town. After the crime, he had dumped her at a farm. The girl’s parents had found her unconscious the next morning and she was taken to Netaji Subhash Chandra Medical College and Hospital in Jabalpur. However, the girl was brought to Nagpur in Maharashtra by an air ambulance and admitted to Care Hospital in Ramdaspeth area shortly before midnight on 20 April. China’s dubious intentions were revealed yet again when reports claimed that it is building road and railway lines in Indian territory. According to a Times Now report China is building rail lines near the Burtse Post area. Members in the Lok Sabha on Monday voiced concern over intrusion by Chinese troops in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, with crucial UPA ally Samajwadi Party objecting to the upcoming visit of External Minister Salman Khurshid to Beijing. Gujarat gets one-fourth of the central e-governance awards The Gujarat government seems to be on a roll these days. Following the urban development ministry asking other states to follow Gujarat models for urban infrastructure projects, the BJP-ruled state has now bagged four of the 16 national awards for e-governance initiatives. No other state got more than two. One of the awards for Gujarat was for its Online Voting System(OVS), implemented successfully in the state local body polls, showing others how such a system can be useful in getting people to vote in the internet age. Incidentally, 11 of the 16 awards announced by the ministry of personnel went to non-UPA ruled states with Madhya Pradesh and Odisha getting two awards each. Other states that got awards include Andhra Pradesh (2) and Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir (one each).     NDA, Modi favourites if polls held now: Survey If general elections were held now, the NDA would outperform the UPA by a comfortable margin, an ABP News-Nielsen 28-city survey released on Thursday revealed. The survey, conducted before Rahul Gandhi became Congress vice-president and Nitin Gadkari quit as BJP chief, said 39% of its 9,000 respondents claimed they would vote for NDA and 22% for the UPA. What’s more, if parties rather than alliances were considered, 36% said they would opt for the BJP and 18% came out in support of the Congress. Survey results revealed that Gujarat CM Narendra Modi was the favourite prime ministerial candidate, with 48% respondents backing him. Only 7% felt that Manmohan Singh should become PM again and 18% wanted Rahul to take up the top job.
