Science and the Bhagavad Gita [Share Maximum]

Science and the Bhagavad Gita [Share Maximum] Today is Mokshada Ekadashi aka Geeta Jayanti. This is a very special Ekadashi in two regards; today was the all auspicious day on which Lord Sri Krishna spoke the Srimad Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, at the place now known as Jyotisha tirtha. Anyone who gifts a Bhagavad Gita away to a deserving person on this day is bestowed profuse blessings by the Sri Krishna Bhaga van Until the turn of the 19th Century, the Western view of the Hindu religion was mostly identified with a dazzling array of cultural mosaic and mysticism of India filled with both imaginable and unimaginable. It began to change after Swami Vivekananda gave his famous speech on the teachings of the Vedanta in Chicago in 1900 during the gathering of the World Parliament of Religions. The true teaching of the Vedanta contained in the Gita, Vivekananda told his mesmerized Western audience, has very little to do with the flying sadhus, the ...

Your Karmic Overdraft Account!

Your Karmic Overdraft Account! Banks offer a type of current account with an overdraft facility against security. The balance in this kind of account can become negative up to a certain prescribed limit depending on the value of the security. When the balance is already negative, further withdrawal will make the balance even more negative. However, if you deposit some money into that account, the  negative balance will reduce. So long as the balance is negative, you are liable to the bank. But once the balance becomes zero, your liability is over. Our karmic account is similar to an overdraft account. We all come into this world with a negative balance in our karmic account due to our past lives. The actions that we perform with some underlying desire are like further withdrawals from our karmic overdraft account that increases our “liability” further. On the other hand, the actions that we perform without any desire are like deposits into the overdraft account that reduce th...

The Bhagavad Gita and the Environment

The Bhagavad Gita and the Environment COMPILATIONS THE BHAGAVAD GITA AND THE ENVIRONMENT (translation of Juan Mascaro, Penguin Classics, 1964) All the religions teach respect for nature and the necessary balance of nature and spirit. The higher purpose of life is detachment from the world of nature and acquiring the qualities of the spiritual world. Food Food is the life of all beings, and all food comes from rain above. Sacrifice brings the rain from heaven, and sacrifice is sacred action. (3:12) Forces of Nature All actions take place in time by the interweaving of the forces of Nature; but the man lost in selfish delusion thinks that he himself is the actor. But the man who knows the relation between the forces of Nature and actions, sees how some forces of Nature work on other forces of Nature, and becomes not their slave. Those who are under the delusion of the forces of Nature bind themselves to the work of these forces. Let not the wise man who sees the All disturb the unwise...

Why is there such a vociferous opposition against Hindu Samhati?

Why is there such a vociferous opposition against Hindu Samhati?  Link :  http:// hinduopinion.blogspot.in/ 2013/04/ why-is-there-such-vociferou s-opposition.html   http://www.facebook.com/ hindu.samhati.3 TAG ✔ COMMENT ✔ SHARE ✔ --------- Both political pundits and experienced activists do assert that any organization undergoes three stages in its life span – they are disdain and negligence, vigorous opposition and recognition (last and final stage). Now if the saga of fiver years of Hindu Samhati (ever since its inception) is considered – the organization is having the second stage or vigorous opposition at the moment. Hindu Samhati took merely three years to go beyond the first stage and only on the fourth anniversary (2012) we had to face immense repression of the state government. Even one of our supporters, aged 84, was arrested on flimsy ground as the administration was hell-bent to hinder our fortitude to celebrate fourth anniversary with splendor come what may...

"I'll Save Hinduism At Any Cost" Bajrang Dal leader Vinay Katiyar spoke to Outlook. Excerpts: Interviews Vinay Katiyar

W hy is the B ajrang D al being directly blamed for the a ttacks on the C hristians? Our rivals have nothing to criticise us on. So they’ve blown such meaningless issues out of proportion. These attacks are mostly related to problems with admissions. But why are the missionary schools alone being targeted? I am sure even other schools face similar problems but they raise no such hue and cry like the Christian institutions. As a senior Dal leader, how do you react to the Nagla Ajita incident, which was not admission related? I’m proud the Bajrang Dal is dragged into this controversy. I’ll not shy away from saving Hinduism at any cost. I will also extend my support to all those who stand against any attempts to convert Hindus. But the police say that the arrested persons are Bajrang Dal supporters... The Bajrang Dal has no representative in this village. If we have the people’s support, it is because of our popularity and what we stand for. For...

How do you think to pay homage to this Great son of Mother India? One of my friend, Raja Nambiar from Bangalore replied without delay that: “Best wishes on Celebrations of Gurudev’s 150th Birth Anniversary ….!! OM !!” Holding the truth that Nambiar considers Swamiji as his Gurudev and certainly will arrange candles, aroma sticks, fruits, sweets, flowers (may not Cigar and chocolate as offered in Belur Math in Swamiji’s birthday with other items) for a homely grandeur, I reacted : ‎”@  Raja Nambiar ...
