Pagans Are Really Annoyed That ISIS Took The Name Of Their Goddess

The shock ubiquity of the terror group ISIS with its sudden takeover of swathes of Iraq has caused a bit of a branding problem. Isis, the ancient Egyptian goddess of nature and magic, has had her name appropriated for many products and places over the years, before the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant/Syria. This author once went to a student club night in a former strip called Isis in Nottingham, where double vodka and Red Bull was £1.50.  It has subsequently closed down , which would no doubt please its namesakes. Isis is also “ a world-leading centre for research in the physical and life sciences  at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford”,  a private equity company , and a  Bob Dylan tribute magazine. But no-one is more angry than the Pagan Federation. The Huffington Post UK received this angry letter from the society, asking we stop referring to the group by this acronym. Dear Sirs, We are writing to you on behalf of our members...

Hindu Elements in Indian Constitution.

Hindu Elements in Indian Constitution. The implication of Hindu Culture and Tradition in Indian Constitution. Upananda Brahmachari | Hindu Existence Bureau | 26 January 2014::  India i.e. Bharat is celebrating its 65th anniversary of adopting its Constitution as it was taken granted on the day of 26 th  January, 1950. We are very much proud for the Indian Constitution and celebrating the Republic Day, but we never look through the Hindu Elements in Indian Constitution or the implication of Hindu Culture and Tradition in it. The partition of India in 1947, made this unique land of cultural unity divided into two pieces on the basis of two nation theory, Hindu-Muslim basis which was undesirable to the majority people.  But, the communal minority Muslims procured their holy land of Pakistan on the strength swords and the cunning politics in connivance of the British who adopted ‘divide-&-rule’ policy. Though least blood shedder and the minimum troub...

Islamic extremist ideology - SIMI the fountainhead

The First National Investigation Day and First Shri Radha Vinod Raju Memorial Lecture by M K Narayanan, Governor of West Bengal : Topic: National Security - The Expanding Terrorist Dynamic The subject of my Lecture today will be ‘National Security: The Expanding Terrorist Dynamic.’ I have taken the liberty of changing the title of the Lecture from Dimension’ to ‘Dynamic’ given the rapidly evolving nature of terrorism”. Terrorism today is ‘dynamic’ rather than static’, and hence I felt that ‘dynamic’ is more appropriate to describe the phenomenon than ‘dimension.’ The NIA was set up for the reason that existing Agencies were not adequately equipped to investigate such a rapidly changing entity as Organized terrorism or its evolving mutant – leaderless or individual jihad. NIA was constituted by an Act of Parliament, and created as a specialized investigative agency, specifically mandated to investigate and prosecute offences affecting the sovereignty, security and integrity of I...
