West Bengal Muslims supports Hindu genocide

West Bengal Muslims support Sayedee, Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh Contrary to the present developments in Bangladesh where an upsurge of emotion against Islamists is being witnessed, Muslim radicals in West Bengal stand for Delwar Hossain Sayedee and Jamaat-e-Islami with conviction. This came to light through a press conference (held recently) by a host of Muslim outfits in Kolkata. Even if they expressed their concerns as regards the chaotic situation in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina and her government were held culpable for the entire development.   Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, through a statement made in public, stated, “It was not in the interest of either Bangladesh or our country that Bangladesh should become victims of chaos. As a neighbor it is our duty to save Bangladesh from plunging into a civil war. So, we urge our government to impress upon Dhaka to abolish the so called war crimes tribunal and stop atrocities on Jamaat-e-Islami and other Islamic organizations....

doesn't seem to understand the phrase Hindu Rashtra'

NDTV's Barkha Dutt doesn't seem to understand the phrase Hindu Rashtra At a program on NDTV (Right wing terrorism : real threat or overstated ? Feb. 17, 2013))  Barkha Dutt ,the anchor, seemed startled at the expression used by one of the participants, the phrase Hindu Rashtra. She was genuinely startled as both her body language and facial expression indicated. She placed her hand on her heart and went on to say 'I feel scared  when I hear that phrase!' It is a sad day when a gifted and seemingly well educated Indian should be startled by the word 'Rashtra'. Ms. Dutt, this is an old Sanskrit word of ancient lineage. Please check the Rig Veda (a translation would do !) especially the verse  where the Goddess Sarasvati says 'aham rashtri sangamani abhyudayam '. Translated, it reads 'I am the rashtra moving the people together for their welfare' (Rig Veda 10, 125). Dutt's response is an indication of how Indians have become ali...

Poor Calcutta !

Chitrita Banerji is the author, most recently, of “Eating India: An Odyssey Into the Food and Culture of the Land of Spices. This article is about picture of Mother Teresa and Calcutta in view of world. Cambridge, Mass : ONE morning in January 1997, I walked into my office at a nonprofit group here after a visit to my hometown, Calcutta. A very senior colleague, whom I would have, until then, characterized as being the “sensitive” sort, greeted me: “Welcome back. And how is everyone in Calcutta - still starving and being looked after by Mother Teresa ?” At first I thought this might be a bad attempt at humor, but I soon realized that my colleague was seriously inquiring about my city’s suffering humanity and its ministering angel - the only images Calcutta evoked for him and countless others in the West. When Mother Teresa died eight months later, 10 years ago today, foreign dignitaries and the Western news media descended on the city. The reports on the fun...

Dilip Kumar Singh, general secretary of Hatibandha Upazila Puja Udjapon Parishad, alleged that anti-liberation elements might be behind torching of the temple as most of the Hindu people of the village joined a rally in Hatibandha upazila town on Wednesday protest attacks on minority people and their place of worships. BONG ORIGINS – On the Trails of Vanga’s Past

It was a pleasant afternoon in the mid December of Kolkata. We came to our home town from Delhi for vacation. I was sitting in the balcony, reading a book, and watching the butterflies play in our garden. Coming from the busy life of KOLKATA it was a luxury, but here it was life as usual. This lazy careless elegance is what makes this place City of Joy. With plenty of time in hand, I took this opportunity to travel on the trails of Bangla’s, or Vanga as it was called, past. Lost amidst this laziness is a past filled with power, bravery and bloodshed. The first recorded history goes back to the time of Mahabharata when Vanga was said to be ruled by Karna who fought against the Pandavas. Later, Prince Vijaya Simha of Vanga Kingdom conquered Sri Lanka in 544BC and named it Sinhala. They also established colonies in Malay Archipelago and Siam (in modern Thailand) as early as 2500 years ago. Some Indians do take pride in the fact that they never colonized the world. Their pride is slig...
