The shock ubiquity of the terror group ISIS with its sudden takeover of swathes of Iraq has caused a bit of a branding problem. Isis, the ancient Egyptian goddess of nature and magic, has had her name appropriated for many products and places over the years, before the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant/Syria. This author once went to a student club night in a former strip called Isis in Nottingham, where double vodka and Red Bull was £1.50.  It has subsequently closed down , which would no doubt please its namesakes.   Government wants to create special havens in certain parts of J&K: Syed Ali Shah Geelani Opposing any move to rehabilitate Kashmiri Pandits by creating protected settlements in the Valley, radical separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Wednesday claimed certain havens were being sought to be created in certain places in southern, central and northern Kashmir. “Pandits are a part of the Kashmir society and they will always be welcome in their motherland. But, let it be clear that any plan to settle them exclusively in protected colonies would be completely unacceptable to the separatist leadership and the people here,” Mr. Geelani said. Nine more bodies were recovered from a village in Baksa district on Saturday morning, taking the toll of violence between the Bodos and the Bangladeshi immigrants  in Bodoland Territorial Administration Districts (BTADC) area in Assam to 32. Ahmed Siddique, Minister for Border Areas Development in Assam, said the Bodoland People’s Front is behind the killing. In an emergency meeting of the State Cabinet this afternoon, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi sought a NIA probe into the violence. The bodies of the victims, including four children and two women, were recovered from Khagrabari village under Salbari sub-division adjacent to the Manas National Park, official sources said. Besides Chirang and parts of Dhubri districts, indefinite curfew has also been imposed in Kokrajhar and Baksa districts where 23 people were killed.
