"YOU COULD BE SHAMELESS, I AM NOT ..!!! " -Lines by Ratan Tata

"YOU COULD BE SHAMELESS, I AM NOT ..!!! " Lines by Ratan Tata. Few months after 26/11, Taj group of Hotels owned by TATAs launched their biggest tender ever for remodeling all their Hotels in India and abroad. Some of the companies who applied for that tender were also Pakistanis. To make their bid stronger, two big industrialists from Pakistan visited Bombay House ( Head office of Tata ) in Mumbai without an appointment to meet up with Ratan Tata since he was not giving them any prior appointment. They were made to sit at the reception of Bombay house and after a few hours a message was conveyed to them that Ratan Tata is busy and can not meet anyone without an appointment. Frustrated, these two Paki industrialists went to Delhi andthru their High Commission met up with a Minister. The minister immediately called up Ratan Tata requesting him to meet up with the two Paki Industrialists and consider their tender "enthusiastically". Ratan Tata replied..."you...

Pollution of the Ganga River: Death Threat to a Life-Line Background The river Ganga traversing over 2500 km is the longest river in India and in 2008 was recognized as the National River of India. Originating from the glacial melt of the Gangotri in the Himalayas, she meanders through north India, and finally meets the Bay of Bengal. The river basin covers parts of China, India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Apart from the religious importance – The Ganga’s economic and environmental significance is almost immeasurable. Religious and Cultural Significance The Ganga has a unique element of cultural, religious and historical significance attached to it. During the Kumbh mela, a mass Hindu pilgrimage, she is home to millions of devotees seeking to purify their sins with her holy water. The religious and cultural attention received is however a major cause of deterioration. Religious offerings, funeral pyres along its banks, half decayed bodies dumped into its water...

Significance of Garlands (Var-mala) in Wedding Ceremonies!

Significance of Garlands (Var-mala) in Wedding Ceremonies: The tradition of Varmala, a beautiful garland of flowers used in Indian weddings comes from the ancient times, denoting a proposal of marriage. In the past, a marriageable girl would follow a practice called “Swayamvar”, where she would choose her life partner among a list of suitors and would identify the husband of her choice by putting the flower garland around his neck, after which the marriage ceremony wou ld be held immediately. Consisting of flowers and thread, the garland symbolizes happiness, enthusiasm, excitement, aspiration, zeal & beauty; the thread is a medium to secure these feelings and emotions. Just as the thread never leaves the flowers, even though they lose their charm and lustre with time, the same way the married couple take vows to never leave each other through ups and downs of life and share their lives with mutual understanding, love, respect, trust, faith and passion. According to the Hindu m...

India bans captive dolphin shows, says dolphins should be seen as ‘non-human persons’

Something we should all be proud of! India bans captive dolphin shows, says dolphins should be seen as ‘non-human persons’ Dolphins have long been one of our favorite ocean-going animal counterparts, blurring the line that separates human intelligence and emotion from the wildness of nature. Sadly, though, this attraction has resulted in dolphins around the world being exploited for our entertai nment, subjected to a life in captivity. But now, in a bold move to protect the well-being of dolphins, India has moved to ban dolphin shows -- a push that helps elevate their status from creatures of mere curiosity to one that borders more closely to that of personhood. Late last week, India's Minstry of the Environment and Forests released a statement banning "any person / persons, organizations, government agencies, private or public enterprises that involves import, capture of cetacean species to establish for commercial entertainment, private or public exhibition and interac...

Understand the difference in Dharma and Religion...

Understand the difference in Dharma and Religion... The word "dharma" has multiple meanings depending on the context in which it is used. Monier-Williams' Sanskrit-English Dictionary lists several, including: conduct, duty, right, justice, virtue, morality, religion, religious merit, good work according to a right or rule, etc. Many other meanings have been suggested, such as law or "torah" (in the Judaic sense), "logos" (Greek), "way" (Christian) and even 'tao" (Chinese). N one of these is entirely accurate and none conveys the full force of the term in Sanskrit. Dharma has no equivalent in the Western lexicon. Dharma has the Sanskrit root dhri, which means "that which upholds" or "that without which nothing can stand" or "that which maintains the stability and harmony of the universe." Dharma encompasses the natural, innate behavior of things, duty, law, ethics, virtue, etc. Every entity in the cos...
