Hyderabad: At
least four persons and two police officials were injured when two
groups form different communities clashed after a youth was stabbed late
last evening, prompting authorities to clamp prohibitory orders in
Musheerabad area here today.
Seven persons have been arrested.
Mohammad
Arif, resident of Bholakpur, was assaulted by miscreants near a temple
at Kavadiguda at around 9 PM yesterday. Subsequently, local youths from
both communities gathered in large number and attacked each other with
stones, police said.
Six
persons, including Central Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Tarun
Joshi and a Sub Inspector, were injured and at least six vehicles
including state-run RTC buses damaged in the violence.
Police
claimed that the situation was brought under control within one hour,
however, some reports said the stone-pelting continued till early
morning.
Prohibitory
orders under section 144 of CrPC, restricting movement in the area for
twenty-four hours, were imposed in Musheerabad at 6 this morning.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said the situation was now under control, and peace had returned.
According
to police, the trouble started when some locals alleged that Arif was
taking a bull to slaughter house forcibly, while he claimed it was his
animal.
Following this, he was stabbed, which triggered the clash.
