BJP rages against Shinde’s ‘Hindu terror’ comment, demands resignation

Leading a nationwide protest against Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s ‘saffron terror’ comments, the BJP on Thursday pressed for sacking of the Home Minister and asked the Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to apologise to the nation.

Addressing party’s protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said, “Saffron is the symbol of India’s spiritual, religious and cultural heritage. It can’t be related to terrorism.”

“Shinde is welcome to do politics in the interests of his party or against the interests of BJP. But he can’t be allowed to do politics against the interests of the nation. Shinde doesn’t understand to what extent his statement has hurt the national sentiments,” she said.

Lashing out at Home Minister for his statement that BJP and RSS are fostering terror, Swaraj said, “You mean to say that terrorists are siting the Parliament House. You mean the Leader of Opposition in the country is a member of a terrorist outfit.”

“The BJP demands Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to apologise to the nation and Sindhe be sacked. Until that happens the BJP will continue its agitation,” Swaraj said.

The BJP leader said that instead of attacking Pakistan for running terror camps against India, the Home Minister has targeted the main Opposition party in the country.

Addressing the rally, BJP president Rajnath Singh said if Shinde is not sacked, his party will continue to press for its demand in both Houses of
Parliament in the forthcoming session.

Singh said Congress, whose leaders refer to the JuD chief as “Hafiz Saeed Saheb” and earlier to al-Qaeda supremo as “Osamaji”, was not serious about fighting terror and saving this country from the menace.

“Shinde’s comments have tarnished the image of India across the world…. Sonia Gandhi’s silence on the issue shows that she perhaps thinks her vote bank will be strengthened by it…Shinde will have to go. No force can save him,” Singh said.

The Government, however, has chosen to rally behind Shinde saying there is nothing wrong in his comments and described the protests by BJP “unwanted”.

“People who were arrested in the Malegaon blast and the Samjhauta Express blast were found to be members of some of the Hindu fundamentalist organisations. It was in that context the Home Minister made his comments,” MoS PMO V Narayanasamy told reporters.

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism!

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism: The Vedas refer to not 33 crore Devatas but 33 types (Koti in Sanskrit) of Devatas. They are explained in Shatpath Brahman and many other scriptures very clearly. "Yasya Trayastrinshad Devaa Ange Sarve Samaahitaa, Skamma Tam Bruhi Katamah Swideva Sah”. ~(Atharva Veda 10-7-13) Which means: with God’s influence, these thirty-three (supporting devta) sustain the world. In Brhadaranyaka Upanishad while discussing Brahman, Yajnavalkya is asked how many gods are there. He says that there are three hundred and three and three thousand and three gods. When the question is repeated? He says, thirty three. When the question is again repeated he says, six. Finally, after several repetitions he says ONE. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 1) The number 33 comes from the number of Vedic gods explained by Yajnavalkya in Brhadaranyaka Upanishad – the eight Vasus, the eleven Rudras, the twelve Adityas, Indra and Prajapati. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 2...
