Training of ‘Self-defence’ is a must to prevent incidents of rape and atrocities !

It is observed that the incident of gang rape and murder in Delhi has created awareness amongst the youth all over the country. Earlier, such gathering was collected in response to the call given by Swami Ramdevbaba and Anna Hazare against corruption; but this time, nobody gave such call; still such large crowd of our young generation gathered only to express their inner rage against indifferent Government ! The government tried to quash the movement exhibiting its ‘Sultani’ regime; instead of trying to pacify the people; due to which the situation aggravated and spread all over the country. Considering its outcome, it appears that the effect of that movement is decreasing owing to lack of competent leadership. At such time, we need to take initiative to eliminate matters like rape by adopting role of a guide; only then, the Government will wake up and do something for security of citizens. In view of this, immediate action has to be taken as per points given below before this unrest abates.

1. Factors responsible for failure of movement

1.A. No efforts are made to create awe in criminals towards law

Movement against incident of rape was undertaken all over the country and it was demanded that the rapist should get most stringent i.e. death punishment. Even now, punishment for murder is death; still cases of crime are increasing day by day. In fact, when this people’s movement was going on in Delhi, at least 4 incidents of rape were taking place; therefore, we should realize that till criminals don’t feel scared of law, such crimes won’t stop. Today, in most of the cases, the accused find some loop holes, shortcomings in police investigations, corruption and manage to go scot free. Moreover, the criminal, who has been sentenced to death for attacking Parliament, is still enjoying ‘Government biryani’ for years together by applying for mercy. If the President is giving pardon to rapist under the name of mercy, how can passing verdict of death sentence, would create awe? It is necessary to make efforts to bring about a change in this situation.

1.B. Effective people’s movement is not undertaken at respective place

The movement at Delhi was given good publicity by the media; therefore, it reached all over the country. After that also, many incidents of rape have taken place in different parts of the country; but such effective movement was not started at such places; as a result, the Government could not be cornered, forcing it to take effective measures to prevent incidents of rape. (The Government also drew attention of people to the Delhi incident and reduced the effectiveness of the movement. Without giving much importance to similar incidents at other places, the Government tried to stop incidents of rape in Delhi by immediately setting up ‘Fast track Court’, appointing 12 women police at every police station thus showing that it is very sensitive to the issue of prevention of incidents of rape. This helped the Government in a way that the movement did not spread all over the country. It should have been asked that if such measures were going to help in curbing incidents of rape in Delhi, should they not be implemented all over the country; but that did not happen.)

1.C. Create confusion by publishing distorted statements

The movment was decisive and the agitators were not quite conversant with the political game of the Government; therefore, taking help of few channels, the Government gave unwarranted publicity to controversial and strong statements of different leaders instead of undertaking measures against rape. As a result, people started reacting to such statements and the Government freed itself. In such situation, it should be firmly told that ‘attention should be paid to undertaking measures rather than the statements’.

1.D. No effeorts  made to find reasons behind the incident of rape

It is a fact that incidents of rape are taking place; it is also true that such incidents are increasing; but it is most essential to find its reasons and eliminate them completely while making demand to prevent such incidents. It should be remembered that even Prabhu Sriram first found out which was the vulnerable spot in Ravana’s body for slaying him before he shot at Ravana.

1.D.i. Nobody takes initiative in prohibiting such programs that ignite desires and increase criminal attitude

As per ‘Dharma-shastra’, “Drashtaa Drushyavashaat Baddha:” means the one who sees gets tied by what he sees. If certain scene is continuously shown to a person, it creates relevant impression of that scene in one’s subconscious mind.

As per a study undertaken, a person watching programs on TV, has to watch more than 700 scenes of rape, kissing, sensual scenes in a year. Will such things not affect a viewer ? In recent cases of murder and kidnapping involving minor boys, they said that they thought of doing such things by watching a program called ‘Crime Diary’ on a TV channel. It means that even sensual scenes create effect on viewers; but not a single drive was undertaken to stop vulgarity; nor a single channel or newspaper made such demand. (Since their earnings are dependent on such things, they won’t make such demand) In fact, few actors said that sensual scenes were not responsible for cases of rape and in a way supported them. So, till such ‘Shukracharyas’ are there, demons will be created.

1.D.ii. Limits of showing nudity / bare body are crossed under the guise of freedom

Today, freedom and limit have been transformed into immorality and vagrancy. Even after the Delhi incident, the modernists were against those who insisted for uniform, long clothes for girls; thus exhibiting somewhat weird demand of ‘we want promiscuity but not rape’. What is the connection between wearing tight, short clothes and modernity? Nobody answers this question. Have people stopped locking their doors because there is law and police? If the answer to this is ‘No’, then there has to be a limit for exhibition of one’s body.

1.D.iii. Stringent action is not taken against eve teasers

Before rape or molstation, the criminal starts with teasing girls outside school, colleges. Whe he realizes that nobody opposes him for teasing girls, he becomes bolder. If rapid action squads are engaged and stringent action is taken against such crimes immediately, they would not dare to indulge in more serious crimes.

1.D.iv. Complaints are not lodged even after getting cheated under ‘love jihad’At least complaints are lodged against the crime of rape; but under ‘love jihad’, a girl is raped in thee name of love and deceived. In such case, the girls are initially not against and they don’t lodge complaint after getting deceived; therefore, such incidents don’t come to light.

2. Effecive solution for prevention of rape – training in self-defence !

After going through all the above reasons, we come to the conclusion that nowadays nobody is afraid of law. Police cannot provide protection to everyone and before establishment of Hindu Nation, it is difficult to stop moral and psychological decline; therefore, only one option is left to people like us and that is to learn to defend self. Training in self-defence is must. H. H. Dr. Athavale had stated the importance of self-defence in the year 2000 itself considering the ensuing period of crisis. Today, we realize its importance. Considering all the things mentioned above, we have to take initiative in imparting training on self-defence to the youth and unite them, staging effective movement against all such atrocities. This will help to bring the youth together for this mission as was done earlier.

Things required to be done for starting self-defence training classes !

A movement can be undertaken to start self-defence classes immediately in the following manner.

1. To start self-defence training class immediately where the number of youth members taking part in the activities of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) are more and number of persons imparting such training is also sufficient e.g. Thane, Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, Kolhapur.

2. Preparing handbills and posters and make use of them

3. Propagation of training classes through the modern means like ‘Facebook’, email etc.

4. Form groups of 10-12 persons by collecting children and their friends of seekers and workers and by holding meetings with them, preparing them to get training in self-defence.

5. Distribute handbills outside schools, private coaching classes, explain the subject by taking prior permission and note down names and cell phone numbers of those willing to join training class.

6. Where children are ready to join class; but our trainers are not available; local persons holding ‘Karate’ classes can be requested to give time for such training by explaining to them the importance of Dharma.

7. Earlier, we used to demonstrate 5-6 types of self-defence in Guru-Pournima programs which used to be very effective. Similar demonstrations can be held at schools, colleges, coaching classes and at chowks on roads etc. by rehearsing the same. We already have one circular of selected types of self-defence.

8. For all the above activities, a capable young seeker can be selected with leadership qualities who can be entrusted with such responsibility and who can study all problems and find solutions through the medium of ‘Ranaragini’ and ‘Dharmashakti Sena’.

9. At least at one place in a district, such drive can be undertaken so that future policy can be decided depending upon the response received for the same.

10. The above subject can be explained through lectures in girl schools.

“ I offer gratitude to Srikrushna for suggesting the above points and getting them written from me.”

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism!

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism: The Vedas refer to not 33 crore Devatas but 33 types (Koti in Sanskrit) of Devatas. They are explained in Shatpath Brahman and many other scriptures very clearly. "Yasya Trayastrinshad Devaa Ange Sarve Samaahitaa, Skamma Tam Bruhi Katamah Swideva Sah”. ~(Atharva Veda 10-7-13) Which means: with God’s influence, these thirty-three (supporting devta) sustain the world. In Brhadaranyaka Upanishad while discussing Brahman, Yajnavalkya is asked how many gods are there. He says that there are three hundred and three and three thousand and three gods. When the question is repeated? He says, thirty three. When the question is again repeated he says, six. Finally, after several repetitions he says ONE. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 1) The number 33 comes from the number of Vedic gods explained by Yajnavalkya in Brhadaranyaka Upanishad – the eight Vasus, the eleven Rudras, the twelve Adityas, Indra and Prajapati. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 2...
