What is the need for a Radio station that is owned by Hindus ?

Introduction

As science and technology keep progressing, every component in the field of information and technology is also gaining importance. There was a time when rising popularity of Television (TV) had endangered the popularity of Radio, a medium of information that had reached the poor and downtrodden, and there was every likelihood of it becoming obsolete; however, these days, all of sudden the use of Radio is on the rise.

1.  Objective of presenting this subject : Hindus should take the initiative to launch a Hindu Radio station

Most Hindu organisations have their own promotion mediums such as Periodicals, Websites etc.; however, Hindus neither have a TV channel nor a Radio station for airing their views. Of course, all the Hindu organisations are aware of this shortcoming and they are expressing the need for a 'Hindu Television channel'. Television channels such as 'Sudarshan' and 'Shriram' are to an extent representing Hindutva views in an efficient manner. Hence, though partially, the need for Hindu Television channel is fulfilled; however, the need for a Radio station has remained unfulfilled.
I am presenting this subject here so that Hindu organizations can begin to contemplate on the idea of launching a Hindu Radio station, and the Hindus who are present here are motivated to work in that direction. I will now be presenting a broad framework of the proposed Hindu Radio station.

2. Importance of Radio station

Some of you must already be thinking, ‘When the present day information and technology is so advanced, why are we discussing about Radio, a relatively old technology ?’  You will find the answer in the changing social equations.

2 A. Less expensive :
Launching a Radio station is far cheaper than launching a Television channel. The manpower required is less too. Almost all activities can be organised through this medium. The operating cost is less too.

2 B. Radio is a simpler medium and hence, the number of its listeners is growing :
Programmes on Radio can be heard anywhere. People have to dedicate a specific time for watching programmes on TV. That is not the case with Radio. While doing their daily chores, housewives, elderly people, uneducated etc. can use this medium, and it is easy to handle too.
The modern society leads a very hectic lifestyle and many people have to travel frequently. Many have to travel every day. Radio is gaining popularity amongst the commuters whose number is in several crores. The popularity of Radio is going to soar in the times to come.

2 C. Effective medium for uniting people :
Through the 'Phone in' facility in programmes, it is possible to establish direct contact with listeners and answer their queries. By using this facility we will also be able to find grass-root level Hindus who are working for Hindutva. Radio will prove to be an effective medium to unite people. This will also help listeners develop faith in the operators of the Radio station.

2D. Important for communicating with Hindus : Radio will make exchanging of important messages during difficult times easy and helping each other easier for the Hindus.

3. Need for changing the taste of listeners

Today, this medium is largely being used for listening to music and despicable jokes. This choice of Radio listeners can be very easily diverted towards Dharma and Spirituality.

When we started shooting for TV serials on subjects like 'Science of Spirituality' and 'Science underlying Dharmik acts', we doubted whether viewers, who watch hundreds of entertainment programmes, will appreciate our programmes. However, in a short time our programmes became popular not only in Bharat, but even in Middle East Asia. It was indeed a learning experience, that if we make efforts, it is possible to change people's likes too.

If we make such efforts in Radio broadcasting, we will see that listeners, who are engrossed in listening to music and jokes, will listen to talks on the Nation, Dharma and Spirituality.

4. It is possible to start programmes which nurture the well-being of the Nation and Dharma

Programmes on the proposed Radio station should be conducive to Hindutva and establishment of the Hindu Nation. To ensure this, the programmes can be scheduled as given ahead.

4 A. Educating listeners on developing an attitude of looking at all the events in life from the perspective of benefit to the Nation and Dharma :
Radio broadcasting medium is looked upon as a source for all types of news. Knowing the choice of the people, the Hindu Radio should broadcast various types of news. At the same time, listeners should be taught on how to look at every incident from the perceptive of benefit to the Nation and Dharma. For example, if anti-Dharmik activities such as riots by Muslims in some area, desecration of Idols, religious conversions etc. are taking place, then guidance should be given on how to prevent recurrence of such incidents. So also, guidance should be provided on how to fight incidents like corruption that jeopardize the interest of the Nation. This type of reporting will help listeners develop the habit of making an analytical study of incidents and will serve the purpose of mass awakening.

'Sanatan Prabhat' group of Periodicals have been covering news in this manner consistently for the past 12 years, and the positive effects of such reporting are also visible.

4 B. Effective use in educating on Dharma : Why celebrate Holy and Religious festivals and perform Vowed religious observances ? How should they be celebrated from the perspective of science of Spirituality ? What are the spiritual reasons underlying religious activities ? How should these activities be performed ? What is the importance of day-to-day abidance of Dharma ? What is the importance of Spirituality in our life ? Which spiritual practice should be performed daily ? Programmes which address such questions and offer guidance can be scheduled on the Radio station. Even though today’s society considers itself to be a believer of science, it does have faith. Hence, the society will definitely like such programmes.

4 C. Creating awareness for protection of Dharma :
Programmes that create awareness in the society about attacks on Hindu Dharma, for example religious conversions, ‘Love Jihad’, lack of interest in retaining the sanctity of temples and their protection, desecration of Deities etc. should be  broadcast.

4 E. Awakening the National esteem :  Today, society is not aware of the contributions of ancient Saints, kings and emperors. As a result, they have a feeling that that western scientists and kings are great. If the society is educated through the medium of Radio, it will awaken the national pride in them.

4 F. Inculcating values in children : For establishing an ideal society tomorrow, it is necessary to inculcate the right virtues in children today, and they should develop pride for their Nation and Dharma. This activity can be organised though the medium of 'Bal Sanskarvargs'.

5. Helping the Hindu Radio station is the duty unto Dharma of Hindu organisations

No Hindu organisation has the ability to keep going programmes started for the benefit of Hindu Dharma for long. Hence, it is necessary that all Hindu organisations participate. Tomorrow, if any Hindu organisation starts such a Radio station all other organisations should support them; remember that this is their duty unto Dharma.

5 A. Reporting : All organisations working for Hindutva are engaged in some or the other activity that creates awareness in the society. We can help by dedicatedly sending news on these activities to the Hindu Radio station.

6. 'Hindu Janajagruti Samiti' and 'Sanatan Sanstha' will provide support in every possible way

'Hindu Janajagruti Samiti' and 'Sanatan Sanstha' have in their possession large amount of knowledge on subjects such as education on Dharma, protection of Dharma and national pride, Balsanskars, ancient knowledge and  conservation of national languages. Organisations that are willing to start a Hindu Radio station will receive this material free of charge. ‘Sanatan Prabhat’ group of Periodicals gets news from all over the country on the subject of denigration and protection of Dharma. We will make this news available to your Radio station. Our media, seekers and volunteers will make maximum efforts for advertising such a Radio station. We will make all the required efforts to start a Hindu Radio station.

In the modern times, during the establishment of the Hindu Nation, media is going to play a major and important role. I conclude this presentation by praying unto the feet of the Almighty that may the process of starting a Hindu Radio station gain momentum.

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism!

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism: The Vedas refer to not 33 crore Devatas but 33 types (Koti in Sanskrit) of Devatas. They are explained in Shatpath Brahman and many other scriptures very clearly. "Yasya Trayastrinshad Devaa Ange Sarve Samaahitaa, Skamma Tam Bruhi Katamah Swideva Sah”. ~(Atharva Veda 10-7-13) Which means: with God’s influence, these thirty-three (supporting devta) sustain the world. In Brhadaranyaka Upanishad while discussing Brahman, Yajnavalkya is asked how many gods are there. He says that there are three hundred and three and three thousand and three gods. When the question is repeated? He says, thirty three. When the question is again repeated he says, six. Finally, after several repetitions he says ONE. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 1) The number 33 comes from the number of Vedic gods explained by Yajnavalkya in Brhadaranyaka Upanishad – the eight Vasus, the eleven Rudras, the twelve Adityas, Indra and Prajapati. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 2
