Lessons on ‘Spirituality’ by President Pranav Mukherjee !

Lessons on ‘Spirituality’ by President Pranav Mukherjee ! Pune (Maharashtra) : The Sages have given us guidance on ‘Eternal Truth’ since the ancient times. Indian culture has always given message of peace, love, mercy, sacrifice etc. against fights and wars. It has taught us about how to mend rather than how to break. If a person achieves spiritual progress, society also gets its benefits, stated the President, Mr. Pranav Mukherjee giving verbal guidance on spirituality. (Instead of giving sermons as per the published guidance of respective organizations, the President should first put such guidance in practice because not empty words but act as per the words and yearning can achieve expected effect; but will the President try to understand the same? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat [DSP]) .

New Vaidik Cultural Centre constructed by ISKON in ‘Kondhva’ area, was inaugurated by him today. (Spiritual organizations should arrange to inaugurate spiritual complexes at the hands of Saints and Dharmacharyas rather than by rulers ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat [DSP]) when he expressed the above views. The other dignitaries who shared the dais with him were, Governor, K. Shankarnarayanan, Minister for Parliamentary affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Harshavardhan Patil, film actress and MP Hema Malini, mayor Vaishali Bankar, H. H. Gopalkrushna Swami from ISKON and swamijis viz. H. H. Radhanath Swami, Radheshyam Das and Gurucharandas who had come from abroad.

Highlights

1. The dignitaries lighted lamp without removing their footwear (Carrying out religious rituals like inaugurations in such manner will result in committing of sins ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat [DSP])

2. The whole program was conducted in English.

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism!

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism: The Vedas refer to not 33 crore Devatas but 33 types (Koti in Sanskrit) of Devatas. They are explained in Shatpath Brahman and many other scriptures very clearly. "Yasya Trayastrinshad Devaa Ange Sarve Samaahitaa, Skamma Tam Bruhi Katamah Swideva Sah”. ~(Atharva Veda 10-7-13) Which means: with God’s influence, these thirty-three (supporting devta) sustain the world. In Brhadaranyaka Upanishad while discussing Brahman, Yajnavalkya is asked how many gods are there. He says that there are three hundred and three and three thousand and three gods. When the question is repeated? He says, thirty three. When the question is again repeated he says, six. Finally, after several repetitions he says ONE. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 1) The number 33 comes from the number of Vedic gods explained by Yajnavalkya in Brhadaranyaka Upanishad – the eight Vasus, the eleven Rudras, the twelve Adityas, Indra and Prajapati. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 2
