10 Factors for Happiness

Happiness, we all need it and want it, but how do we get it?
Well, even though happiness is subjective, I think most of us can all decide on 10 keys needs that are required for the feeling of contentment.

Have hobbies. More importantly, take the time to regularly pursue your hobbies. Whether it be dancing or gardening, do something enjoyable that defines you and takes you away from all the problems of life.

Release your emotions. Burying aching thoughts for years will never do anyone any good. So why not just release yourself through anger, sadness, joy or however you feel. People who tend to express their feelings more often tend to be less affected by adversities and difficult situations in life. So do yourself a favour and just let it all out. You can thank yourself later.

Open your mind. This can include learning a new language or visiting a foreign land. With the help of the internet, I am currently learning Vedic Astrology. Learn to expand your knowledge and eliminate ignorance. You will feel more accomplished and more aware of the wonderful things our planet has to offer.

Have a buddy. Just one best friend who you can be silly with and not worry about being self-conscious. When it comes to friends, its all about quality over quantity. Victoria and I like to sing music loudly as we walk down the street together, and of course, that is after we have pigged out on whipped cream desserts. This helps to eliminate stress and create moments of pure fun!

Store memories. Making them is the prerequisite, but storing them through pictures, blogs, and simply retelling it to someone will help enhance that memory so you are more likely to remember it in the future and bask in its thoughts. Social media is great for this.

Treat yourself. Its not selfish to have some quality time for yourself once in a while. Spend the afternoon at your favourite spa then head down to your favourite cheesecake store. Or if you prefer more masculine activities, buy yourself the latest tablet and just cruse away with apps/games.

Find love. Not passion, not infatuation, but true and genuine love. Someone who is a long term companion rather than a short term adrenaline rush. Its never to late to find love, and once you have found that special one-in-7-billion, cherish your bond and secure it forever. Tie the knot with a holy matrimony and then live together and nurture a family. Studies show that married men live longer than single men and if they have children as well, they feel more accomplished and have healthy sense of responsibility.

Financial security. Its necessary for proper hygiene, nutrition, and comfort in life. But how much do we need? Many studies have concluded that a household net income of $75,000 to $80,000 is enough for an average family to be happy and functioning. Anything above is not necessary for happiness, but anything below can cause some issues.

Create a legacy. Something that starts with you. This can be your own mini business or even your own kids. Some will go as far as to publishing a book that can be read for further generations to come. You will feel a greater sense of significance and worth.

Believe. Embrace your inner spirituality by performing yoga and balancing your energy points (chakras). Discover the depth within your mind and soul and connect with the Supreme Soul. In doing so you will acquire self realization, the meaning of life, and achieve Absolute Happiness.

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism!

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism: The Vedas refer to not 33 crore Devatas but 33 types (Koti in Sanskrit) of Devatas. They are explained in Shatpath Brahman and many other scriptures very clearly. "Yasya Trayastrinshad Devaa Ange Sarve Samaahitaa, Skamma Tam Bruhi Katamah Swideva Sah”. ~(Atharva Veda 10-7-13) Which means: with God’s influence, these thirty-three (supporting devta) sustain the world. In Brhadaranyaka Upanishad while discussing Brahman, Yajnavalkya is asked how many gods are there. He says that there are three hundred and three and three thousand and three gods. When the question is repeated? He says, thirty three. When the question is again repeated he says, six. Finally, after several repetitions he says ONE. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 1) The number 33 comes from the number of Vedic gods explained by Yajnavalkya in Brhadaranyaka Upanishad – the eight Vasus, the eleven Rudras, the twelve Adityas, Indra and Prajapati. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 2
