Some people wonder how sometimes the richest and most powerful people can also be the most corrupt. They have been blessed with wealth and luxury, yet they did horrible things to earn it, then how does Karma apply for them?
Karma is an universal regulator for our souls. The general idea is that if you do good deeds you will be rewarded, whereas bad actions will cause Karma to punish you. However you have to remember that karma is not bound to our temporary bodies, rather it is bound to our eternal soul. And since the soul lives on forever and takes on a new body in every birth, the punishments and rewards can actually be spread out through the various lives that a soul takes.
This means that it is possible for you to perform a good deed and not experience any immediate reward. This reward might show up later in your life or in your next life. Similarly if a person performs malefic acts and still seems to be enjoying a happy life, remember that Karma is always at work and that they WILL face their punishment later in life or in the next. Karma never losses count of our actions and will always give us what we deserve, whether we like it or not.
Now back to those rich and corrupt individuals, we might think that Karma is not punishing them, but then again how can we be sure that their lives are all fun and games. From the outside we see a spoiled millionaire, but perhaps Karma is punishing them behind the scenes. Perhaps this millionaire has to come home to an adulterine wife everyday. Or perhaps he is constantly suspicious about the paternity of "his" children. Karma has many ways to punish someone.
But the bottom line is that Karma is always in effect and applies to every single living soul. We can face the wrath (or the blessing) with many small cumulative effects or with one life-changing occurrence. And although we might not always be able to witness the rewards or punishments, rest assured because no one can ever escape the effects of Karma.
