NDA, Modi favourites if polls held now: Survey
If general elections were held now, the NDA would outperform the UPA by a comfortable margin, an ABP News-Nielsen 28-city survey released on Thursday revealed. The survey, conducted before Rahul Gandhi became Congress vice-president and Nitin Gadkari quit as BJP chief, said 39% of its 9,000 respondents claimed they would vote for NDA and 22% for the UPA.
What’s more, if parties rather than alliances were considered, 36% said they would opt for the BJP and 18% came out in support of the Congress.
Survey results revealed that Gujarat CM Narendra Modi was the favourite prime ministerial candidate, with 48% respondents backing him.
Only 7% felt that Manmohan Singh should become PM again and 18% wanted Rahul to take up the top job.
