Google requests UPA to not launch yet another Rajiv Gandhi scheme citing indexing problems

Google Inc has requested the UPA to refrain from launching yet another scheme named after Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The request comes in the wake of mounting speculation that the Food Security Bill may be named after the late leader, thereby adding to the kitty of the thousand and odd central schemes named after one of India’s tallest and most dynamic leaders.

Google CEO, Larry Page, said that it is becoming impossible for Google’s crawlers to index all the schemes, universities, ponds, bridges, roads and stadiums named after the late leader. “No matter how hard we try, the UPA has been one step ahead of us in spawning more Rajiv Gandhi schemes than we can index. While we endeavour to improve our search infrastructure , we request the UPA to give us some time to play catch-up,” was the plaintive appeal from the CEO of the internet technology giant. Googlebot, the crawler that day in and day out crawls the web to index pages, seconded his boss’ statement. “Just as I finish one cycle of web-crawling, I am told these Congress chaps have named three dozen roads, 54 universities and 400 roads after Shri Rajiv Gandhi. Guys, give me a break. I may be a bot but I too have a life,” he moaned.

Larry also confirmed that the Google outage a few days ago was caused by a search query on the list of Rajiv Gandhi schemes. “Google was down for a few minutes between 23:52 and 23:57 BST on 16^th August as it struggled to fetch all the page links. Later, using Google Earth, we managed to trace the request to some place called 10, Janpath in New Delhi. We’ve requested the denizens of that location to refrain from using such search terms again,” he revealed.

Union Telecom Minister Shri Kapil Sibal has rejected Google’s concerns. “When they don’t cooperate with us in filtering material that is grossly offensive or has menacing character, then why should we oblige them by not coming up with new schemes after our beloved leader? I have zero sympathy for them,” he scoffed before heading to Rajiv Bhavan to celebrate Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
