Congress wants Lata to return Padma award for backing Modi

Senior Congress MLA and Mumbai city Congress president Janardan Chandurkar on Tuesday sparked a row by demanding that artists who publicly praise political leaders should return their Padma awards. Chandurkar has made this irresponsible comment at a public rally in south Mumbai.
“The Artists those who are exhibiting support to politicians should give up their Padma awards or else the Government should strip them of their Padma awards,” Chandurkar said in a obvious reference to queen of melody Lata Mangeshkar’s endorsement of Modi for Prime Minister.
Reacting sharply to the Congress leader’s statement, BJP spokesperson Nalin S Kholi tweeted, “Modi phobia at its worst. Lata ji praises Modi ji & the Congress demands that her awards should be taken back!”
Veteran singer and the queen of melody Lata Mangeshkar had endorsed Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of India. Speaking at the event to inaugurate Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune she had said, “Narendrabhai is a like a brother to me. I have known him for a long time. I used to send him my albums hoping he would like them. On Diwali I pray to god that what I want to see, what you want to see … Narendrabhai in the Prime Minister’s post … comes true … we get to see him as Prime Minister. This is what everybody wants.”

  1. Freedom of Speech ?

    Today , on Nehru's birthday , I am reminded of his following speeches :

    > Our tryst with destiny

    > A light has gone out of our lives

    Then there were other memorable speeches in the distant past, viz:

    > Mahatma Gandhi ( Quit India )

    > Martin Luther King ( I have a dream )

    > Abraham Lincoln ( Of the people / by the people / for the people )

    > Winston Churchill ( Never have so many owed so much to so few )

    > Brutus ( but Caesar is an honorable man )

    Then I end up comparing some " famous " recent speeches , viz:,

    > Sonia Gandhi ( Maut ka Saudaagar )

    > Narendra Modi ( Khooni Panjaa )

    > Rahul Gandhi ( ISI )

    > Kapil Sibal ( No loss in 2G scam )

    > Manish Tewari ( Anna is most corrupt )

    > Ranjeet Sinha ( Enjoy rape )

    > Naresh Agarwal ( Tea vendor cannot be PM / even a Madari collects crowds )

    No doubt , amongst the living politicians , " Freedom of Speech " has totally different connotations !

    For them , apparently , it means,

    " License to Kill ( - if words can kill ! ) "

    Obviously , Gandhian Anna Hazare is pained

    In his TV interview with Rajat Sharma yesterday , he expressed his anguish at the lowly depths to which , political mud-slinging has descended during current election campaign

    Whether he / she is a leader of any political party , all politicians are talking the same language , the language of ,

    PHP = Power Hungry Politicians

    Who cares for ,

    C = Civility / Code of Conduct / Courtesy ?

    I miss T N Sheshan !

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism!

The concept of 33 koti devata in Hinduism: The Vedas refer to not 33 crore Devatas but 33 types (Koti in Sanskrit) of Devatas. They are explained in Shatpath Brahman and many other scriptures very clearly. "Yasya Trayastrinshad Devaa Ange Sarve Samaahitaa, Skamma Tam Bruhi Katamah Swideva Sah”. ~(Atharva Veda 10-7-13) Which means: with God’s influence, these thirty-three (supporting devta) sustain the world. In Brhadaranyaka Upanishad while discussing Brahman, Yajnavalkya is asked how many gods are there. He says that there are three hundred and three and three thousand and three gods. When the question is repeated? He says, thirty three. When the question is again repeated he says, six. Finally, after several repetitions he says ONE. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 1) The number 33 comes from the number of Vedic gods explained by Yajnavalkya in Brhadaranyaka Upanishad – the eight Vasus, the eleven Rudras, the twelve Adityas, Indra and Prajapati. (Chapter I, hymn 9, verse 2
